Principles and structure of the textile value chain
This course is a required first-semester course. It explores fundamental textile technical and creative processes, methods and content. Design and product manufacturing processes along the textile value chain are studied and explored using hands-on exercises. The aim is for students to develop textile skills as a basis for taking Textile Studies on the bachelor’s program Bildung, Erziehung und Unterricht (BEU).
The course, lasting two semesters, is divided into two parts. The first part addresses the topic “From Fiber to Fabric”. The second part focuses on the issue “From Fabric to Product”. A practice block takes place at the end of each semester. The second seminar is followed by a 15-minute review meeting for credit certification.
